Wally's Water Wisdom- Smart Water Irrigation

Wally's Water Wisdom

Hello friends!

Wally here! July is Smart Irrigation Month, so let's learn about the basics of irrigation together! Irrigation is a water supply that will travel through a channel to land and will help in the production of crops and other landscapes. These channels can come in a few different forms; such as, rivers, ditches, pipes, or drains. By using a smart irrigation system, you can use up to 20% less water than the traditional irrigation system! A smart irrigation system that you can use, is a smart controller. A smart controller allows you to set the time of day to water, length of water schedule, and the amount of water that is being distributed to your plants, grass or crops. Now that we know how to use smart irrigation techniques, let's put it into practice this upcoming month!

Til next time!
Wally

Did you know that you can get a rebate for using a smart water controller? Check it out here: http://www.socalwatersmart.com/?page_id=2956

Wally's Water Wisdom- National Ice Cream Soda Day

Wally's Water Wisdom

Hello friends!

Did you know that yesterday, June 20th, was National Ice Cream Soda Day?! In honor of that day, my good friend Owlie did an awesome tutorial on how to make an Edible Aquifer. Use the link, down below, to see how an aquifer works, and make a yummy treat at the same time! Remember to stay cool and hydrated during these hot summer months!

Wally's Water Wisdom- Water Tip: Washing Fruits and Veggies

Wally's Water Wisdom

Hello friends!

Happy Summer to you all! Summer is the perfect time to continue to be water efficient. With that being said, I want to share one of my favorite water wise tips! Everyone loves the taste of freshly washed fruit, especially on a hot summer day. If you have a lot of fresh fruits or veggies to wash, fill a large bowl, or pot, with water and wash them in that water
This eliminates the water waste that would happen if you were to run the water continuously for several minutes. Once you finish washing your fruits and veggies in the bowl of water, you can then use the remaining water to water your plants. This is a double whammy water saver!

If you have any water questions or tips you would like to share, don't hesitate to send them my way!

Your friend,
Wally
